How Long Can California Avoid The Big Quake?

Those living in parts of Asia may well believe that the Apocalypse Times have begun. No less than three tropical storms have been swirling around the area creating death, misery and fear. At the same time a series of earthquakes have rattled the nerves of those in major cities including New Delhi and Manila, where a quake occurred during a cabinet meeting of President Gloria Arroyo. Journalists and politicians left the building together and it was stated the President remained calm and collected. Several were killed in Indonesia, including a 5 year old boy, in a series of quakes that struck on Monday and it was reported the much panic was being felt by those who felt the tremors. Also on Monday, moderate earthquakes shook nerves in western Mexico and Guatemala. In all cases above, it was reported (in so many words) that people ran into the streets in panic and fear.

These reports reaching us here in the United States might as well be coming from the moon. Life proceeds as "normal" here and things like "Dancing With The Stars", and our nearly pointless and far away Presidential elections predominate the media. Holiday conscious Americans are being mesmerized by a seasonal blitz of buy or die advertising though they may well be sitting on the verge of a burgeoning financial collapse. Much of the rest of the world is running into the streets in panic, huddled in fear of floods, typhoons, disease and volcanoes. Imagine waking up with volcanic ash landing in your front yard. As you slept during the night, you were awakened by earthquake tremors. You turned on the radio in an attempt to go back to sleep and hear reports that you were to take shelter from an impending typhoon.

There was a 4.0 quake not too far from Seattle on Monday; and, with quakes occurring in Western Mexico as well, we wonder how long can California dodge the big earthquake bullet? Remember that The Appocalypse Times are about and unveiling. You may remember that we recently reported on a Vatican exhibit focused on The Apocalypse where the book of Revelation was referred to by organizer Alessio Geretti as: "a book of hope where justice eventually triumphs." We ask, what is justice and what is it that we are supposed to see?

Dennis Kucinich, The Virgin Mary, and UFOs

We contacted Shirley MacLaine with the questions:

Dear Shirley MacLaine,

Everyone was crazy about the UFOs.
To us, that story was less important than:
what were the instructions in his mind?
what did the smell of roses mean?

The official answer from a spokesperson who answers her e-mail:

"Shirley feels that it is up to Dennis to discuss this - she feels he will when the time is appropriate."

What could be worse, being labeled a liberal, or a wacko who reported seeing a UFO??? Our guess is that it's a tie. We doubt that either will boost Dennis Kucinich to the top of the Presidential candidates most wanted list. Whatever the case, a recent revelation that Democratic Presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich reported seeing a UFO prompted us to do a little digging. The story apparently came from a book written by actress Shirley MacClaine, who herself has dabbled in the paranormal and oft been criticized for being "out there". We quote from the book:

Kucinich "had a close sighting over my home in Graham, Washington, when I lived there," the actress, a close Kucinich friend, wrote. "Dennis found his encounter extremely moving. The smell of roses drew him out to my balcony where, when he looked up, he saw a gigantic triangular craft, silent, and observing him. "It hovered, soundless, for 10 minutes or so, and sped away with a speed he couldn't comprehend. He said he felt a connection in his heart and heard directions in his mind."


The smell of roses is what piqued our curiosity here at The Apocalypse Times. The smell of roses or the appearance of rose petals falling from the sky are often reported as a side effect or prelude to apparitions of the Virgin Mary. For example, during the sightings at Fatima Portugal in 1917, which coincidentally recently celebrated a global 90th anniversary:

"Many saw rose petals falling, as had also been reported in September, and others were enveloped in the brilliance of changing colours."

Mary has often been associated with the Rose. Below is a quote from "The Rose: An Illustrated History":

"Devotion to the Virgin Mary reached new height in the medieval period, and many paintings portray her with the rose. ..In popular legend she was the Blessed Rose, the Mystic Rose, the Rose Without a Thorn and the rose-crowned Queen of Heaven. The five petals of the rose proclaimed her Five Joys and the letters of her name MARIA. This association has continued into modern times, through the vision at Guadeloupe in 1531, Lourdes in 1858 and Fatima in 1917..."

Some have speculated that the Miracle of the Sun reported at the Fatima site in 1917 was in fact a giant UFO that blocked the sun. Many at the site reported that they had seen the sun dance in the sky and change color before them. From a book entitled "The Miracle Detective: An Investigation of Holy Visions":

"The greatest theophony in modern times, Groeschel told me, had occurred at Fatima in 1917, with the appearance of a whirling sun. 'Which was not the sun,' he pointed out. 'The Grenwich Observatory is not very far away, and they didn't pick up anything, but over an area of about forty square miles, everybody who was there - everybody - believers and nonbelievers, attentive people and inattentive people, saw this thing that looked like a whirling, multi-colored sun descending toward them. Many people present actually fell to the ground. There were cases like that of a freemason, a socialist who had gone there to laugh, and afterward he had to be hospitalized for three days. He was taken away from the scene in shock.'"

There has been an entire book written about the apparitions at Fatima as a UFO sighting entitled: "Heavenly Lights: The Apparitions of Fatima and the UFO Phenomenon"

It is interesting to note that Kucinich was baptized a Roman Catholic and, while the quote from MacClaine's book makes no mention of the Virgin Mary, the similar vein running through the stories of Fatima, the rose, and Dennis' UFO experience are quite interesting. The Catholics for Kucinich have overlooked his pro-choice stance but might reconsider their endorsement once they hear about his UFO sighting. Or, perhaps if they do a little more research, they'll find that Our Lady and UFOs may well have something in common.

To close, we found another compelling quote from Fr. Benedict Groeschel from the book "The Miracle Detective" mentioned above:

"If you do no more than dismiss these things, you're simply an obscurantist. If you mindlessly embrace them, you're just a dope. We have to resist the obsessive-compulsive demand for a clear, definitive answer to these questions. This is a field for people who don't have to have it all figured out, who don't need it cast in black and white. There's a lotta gray mist around this stuff, and you have to be prepared to deal with that. Once in awhile a bright, shining light comes through, and we should be grateful for it. Because the rest of the time we have to feel our way through the twilight."

The above sentiments pretty much sum up our slant here at The Apocalypse Times; if you're going to grope your way through the quagmire of the Apocalypse Times you have to keep an open mind. Don't keep it too open, however, lest you be led down the wrong path.

Quake Prediction--Did Luke Thomas Strike Again?

Above is Luke Thomas' prediction from November 18th. He was calling for a 5.2 in Western or Northwestern California by this coming Saturday. Luke made the news just a couple of weeks ago:

"Scientists have been trying for years to come up with a way to predict quakes without much luck. But a man was able to predict Tuesday night's Bay Area earthquake using a system he's worked on for years." See full story!

Though the 5.8 quake was off the coast or Oregon, we'll give him a hit as it was very close to Northwestern California. It might make it a little bit easier to make it through The Apocalypse Times with an accurate means of earthquake prediction.

UFO Over Cyprus Captured on Video

This UFO was filmed last week in Limmasol, Cyprus by a cameraman named Sasa Milenovic. According to his own description: "...if you zoom in you will notice it changing shape many times per second and on two occasions performing jelly fish like changes in structure." To zoom in on the video, right-click and select "zoom in". Ignore the clips at the beginning of the video, as they appear to be unrelated.

The Blue Ghost...Angel...ET????

We've seen a lot of weird videos over the years but this has got to be one of the most bizarre yet. This story of the blue ghost in the Ohio gas station has flown around the Internet in record time, and for good reason! It is absolutely amazing. The gas station owner apparently watched the blue, fuzzy object for half an hour on his security camera before it left the scene. In our opinion the object or, more likely, creature almost appears to be swimming through the air as a human would swim through water. How we wish we had some high resolution video to do some enhancement with!

This is just one of several stories in the last few weeks that seem to be adding up to something; just exactly what? We're afraid to speculate:

THEN, there was a fascinating guest on the Coast to Coast AM radio show named Victoria Liljenquist who's UFO stories were absolutely wild. What struck us the most, however, about her story was that she said events were going to start happening in a couple of weeks! She was very vague but hinted that something was going to happen with our currency. Now, we have heard and dismissed many a prediction but something about this one just seemed so odd that it stuck with us. This woman put her whole reputation at risk to a huge national radio audience with a short term and somewhat specific prediction. We'll see what happens; it may just be another weird story that pans out as a big nothing. Such is the confusion endemic in The Apocalypse Times.

UFO Press Conference--As Close to Disclosure As We Get?

Today the National Press Club hosted an event that could mark the most definitive event in the course of human history. Pilots, military, and government officials from all over the world gave their testimony to the press that UFOs are real. This follows the UFO sighting claims of Presidential Candidate Dennis Kucinich and a special on Larry King Live. Here is a link to the only video archive of today's National Press Club event we have been able to locate on the Internet as of yet. Below was what we were able to type while listening live to the event on CNN. We were floored by some of the testimony and at times our jaw-dropping prevented us from pressing the keyboard.

• French scientist invites others to see demonstration of gravity manipulation device.

Mass Extinction--Our Turn?

Indonesian vulcanologists are frazzled, working their instruments to the bone as their chain of islands in the South Pacific turns into a boiling cauldron of volcanic activity. According to a recent Reuters article, Indonesia's chief of all things geologic, referred to by a single name Surono, "has had a frantic time in the last month". Four volcanoes are currently on watch, among them: Mt. Kelud, "Child of Krakatau", and Mount Soputan. All three of these have belched forth catastrophe in the past and may well do it again.

The amount of gas released by a single volcano is enormous, enough to alter earth's climate noticeably in a short period of time with a lasting effect of years, decades or longer. Scientists have proven this by looking at tree cores to see the effects of volcanic eruptions on the growth rate of trees in the past. The chart left shows the significant effect on global temperatures after a significant volcanic eruption. (Click on chart to see a larger image.)


In light of recent volcanic activity in Indonesia, where no less that four volcanoes are being monitored for prospective eruptions, it is interesting to note that a recent publicity campaign has been launched by scientists regarding an alternate theory for the extinction of the dinosaurs. In an article dated Nov. 5th from National Geographic details of the research of one Gerta Keller (now you have to trust a scientist named Gerta don't you?) shows that massive volcanic eruptions in India may well have caused the mass extinction event:

"The eruptions would have been on a scale that dwarfed anything ever experienced by humans, burying parts of western India in nearly 12,000 feet (3,500 meters) of volcanic rock...Each of the flows would have released vast quantities of climate-altering gases—up to ten times as much as were produced by the famed Chicxulub asteroid impact in Mexico's Yucatan peninsula."

The relatively rapid disappearance of the most magnificent creatures to roam the planet's surface has been the subject of scientific speculation for a long time. The most popular theory is that a gigantic, roaming meteor plummeted to the ground in what is now the Gulf of Mexico. The explosion was so huge, that the effects were global and subsequently led to the mass extinction of many species then inhabiting our current home. The crater left behind by the impact, called Chicxulub, is about 110 miles wide located just off the Yucatan Peninsula.

The volcano-complicated demise of Tyrannosaurus Rex is gaining momentum. It states that a catastrophic cacophony of volcanoes teamed up to blow in unison, releasing enough poison and sun-blocking gases into earth's atmosphere that mother earth was rendered nearly uninhabitable. The theory doesn't give all the credit to the volcanic eruptions. Simultaneous events, including meteoric impacts also contributed to the species' slate being wiped.




Could a simultaneous eruption of four volcanoes in Indonesia change our lives? Perhaps in the short term, and the effects might just be enough to head off global warming or even bring on a new little ice age. The "little ice age" is thought to have been caused, in part, by volcanic activity. The period lasted from the 16th to the mid-19th centuries. Glaciers and pack ice advanced in parts of North America and Europe. Sea ice expanded around Iceland where the extreme conditions led to the drop in population by half, the Vikings died out in the 15th century, in 1780 New York Harbor froze into a walkway from Manhattan to Staten Island.

It is a fact that volcanic eruptions in the past have altered the earth's climate. Whether or not four volcanoes in Indonesia, which may or may not explode in catastrophic eruptions, will cause a sideways turn in the modern graph of human history is yet to be seen. We're not saying to go out a buy a new mass extinction outfit yet, but you may think about something warm to wear. Such are the considerations one must face as a human living in The Apocalypse Times.

Interesting Quake Activity--Intermountain West

We have been watching the western U.S. since last week's 5.6 earthquake in the San Francisco area. As you may have read on our front page, that particular quake was predicted by Luke Thomas at EarthquakePrediction.com who is still anticipating a moderate to large quake before November 15th, in Western California.

Over the last few days a 3.9 quake occurred in central Utah today, Nov. 5th. Yesterday a 3.0 occurred in Yellowstone and a 3.1 quake occurred in New Mexico on the 3rd of November. Keep your eye on the west as, according to Thomas, there is still a lot of energy to be released. Here are a couple of links:
