Army of Mary Excommunicated

The word excommunication brings up visions of rebellious medieval monks or indignant kings of old and to see the word in a headline today is intriguing to say the least. The Catholic Church seems on a roll of late, purging heretics as if we were in the religious fervor of the times of the Black Death, looking for someone to blame for God's wrath. We reported on a woman, Patricia De Menezes, who was recently denounced by the church. For years she has seen visions of The Holy Mother in a pine tree and has been urging that aborted babies be declared martyrs by the church. The church decried the intemperance of her language and questioned the revelations she had received. For more details, read the Telegraph story.
Now, six nuns from a diocese in Little Rock Arkansas have been excommunicated for following a sect out of Canada called the Army of Mary, aka the Community of the Lady of All Nations. Fortunately for this six they own their own convent so they won't be out on the streets anytime soon. The archdiocese administrator, J. Gaston Herbert, opined over the "painfully historic" decision but the line has to be drawn somewhere in the doctrinal sand. The nuns were said to have become "entranced and deluded with a doctrine that was heretical". Hebert stated the soldiers of the Army of Mary believe that its 86-year-old creator, Marie Paule Giguere, is the living reincarnation of the Virgin Mary and that God speaks directly through her. The Army of Mary subsequently made a press release in which they defended their beliefs and
In 2002, the Bishop of Amsterdam, Joseph Maria Punt, signed a written announcement in which he endorsed the supernatural nature of the visions of the Lady of All Peoples (Army of Mary), stating that said apparitions are “a help in understanding the signs of the times and to help live more fully the Gospel”.
The controversy seems to surround a 1951 proclamation by the seer(ess) of a fifth Marian Dogma:
“Mary, (as) Co-Redemptrix, Mediatrix and Advocate”:
In Roman Catholicism , there are four dogmas regarding the Blessed Virgin Mary:
1. Mother of God
2. Perpetual Virginity
3. Immaculate Conception
4. Assumption into Heaven.
According to Mary as spoken through Marie Paule Giguere:
“My feet are solidly set upon the globe of the earth because the Father and the Son ‘WISHES’, in this present time, in this world here, to send me in the capacity of Co-Redemptrix, Mediatrix and Advocate. And such will be the subject of the new and last Marian dogma. This picture must precede. The dogma will be furiously contested; but it will be promulgated” (May 31, 1951).
“This dogma will be, as it were, the keystone of the Marian mystery” (April 4, 1954).
“My prophecy, ‘All peoples shall call me blessed’, will be entirely fulfilled when the dogma will be proclaimed. (...) When the dogma, the last of Marian history, will have been promulgated, then the Lady of All Peoples will give peace to the world, true peace.
“But before that, the peoples, in union with the Church, must recite my prayer. But they must know that the Lady has come as Co-Redemptrix, Mediatrix and Advocate. Let it be so” (May 31, 1954).
“I have already said how much controversy this dogma will arouse. Nevertheless, the Church of Rome which will have a long struggle over it, will finally promulgate it. The Church of Rome will be able to face up to the opposition. The Church of Rome will grow in strength and power in the very measure that it confronts this opposition” (April 29, 1951).
The above statements echo the Secrets of Fatima with their promise of world peace following the consecration of Russia to the Sacred Heart of the Holy Mother. Though Pope Pius XII consecrated Russia on July 7, 1952 world peace did not come though Russia as it once was started to disintegrate. Now, six nuns from a diocese in Little Rock Arkansas have been excommunicated for following a sect out of Canada called the Army of Mary, aka the Community of the Lady of All Nations. In time when world leaders, politicians, televangelists and, maybe even your own boss, openly talk of doing something because they were guided to do so by God it seems ridiculous to excommunicate a little group of good women who are simply following what their heart is telling them is right. Of course, getting drummed out of the church may bring them more attention and help build recruiting for the Army of Mary. At least they own the mortgage on the convent.
Just another saga in the Apocalypse Times....
